Movie Reviews

To my surprise.....

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I actually enjoyed this. The only Asian comedian I knew of is Margaret Cho and I was sooooooo sick of her "My mom" impressions. Then Dat Phan (who is also in this DVD)followed suit with doing impressions of his family....is there nothing else to talk about in the Asian community?!?!?! But for the most part, a good 90% of the comedians (out of 20?) were solid!!!! The host Joe Guilla was very good and fresh for each episode. Susan was funny and is a cutie. Steve Byrne cracked me up. And Bobby Lee is always a riot. What caught me off guard was when I saw a white comedian, Thom Roads, go up!!! I thought this was an Asian showcase....well he started to speak about his trials and tribulations of his apt. in Chinatown and how the community treated him...funny stuff because I can relate!!! Quality wise, at times, it would've been good if they got a real editor because there were a few little audio blunders and crappy cuts but overall, it was very watchable. There were a couple of dud comedians as well where I suspect that a laugh track may have been in play. But over all, I got what I was looking for, and that was too laugh. I am a fan of stand-up and really enjoy ethnic humor. This was my first journey into the the land of Asian comedy...and I must say....funny stuff."
