Out the gates strong but then was up and start with alot of fizzle. The one thing that kept it going was Carly Simon movie theme song, Coming Around Again played throughout the movie is pretty awesome! What is not awesome is the drag and boring spots of the plotline that need 120X FF. Other than that, don't waste your time with this.

I found this movie to follow the book, but if you did not read the book it would have been very disjointed.

How much better can you get than having Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson in one movie? This movie is so good, I have seen it sooo many times. I love Streep's character Rachel, who somehow manages to survive a cheating husband while being heavily pregnant. Worth a watch!

Much Better Than I Expected

"I avoided this movie when it was released because I couldn't imagine that a film based on the marital breakup of Nora Ephron and Carl Bernstein would interest me. Although I am an admirer of both these folks for their talents as writers, I had always agreed with Richard Burton when he said, when asked if he would be writing about his marriage and breakup with Elizabeth Taylor, that even though love might be dead, that it wasn't for sale. Be that as it may, this movie is certainly worth seeing. Although the plot is a little thin, there are some very funny moments. (Whether some of the events actually happened in the Bernstein/Ephron saga doesn't matter.) Any film directed by Mike Nichols, starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson, with cinematography by Nestor Amendros is well worth seeing.

Both Ms. Ephron and the viewer have the last laugh."

"not a fan of streep or nicholson. they are not actors in this film they are really living their lives. you believe they are in a documentary. i only have one criticism - why isnt it on DVD?"
Streep and Nicholson are great in this film

"I never read the book, so my point of view is purely on the film. And I loved it long ago and still love it. There's an intesity Streep delivers that pains you to observe her character in this situation. The last 30 minutes is so good... and to add Carly Simon's Itsy Bitsy Spider rendition of Coming Around Again just did it for me. Best metaphore. Fabulous ending."
