The Informant is a well-done film that tells the story of ADM price fixing and Mark Whitacre. Whether the portrayal of Whitacre is accurate is unknown, but the story is effective at following the character through a series of increasingly intricate lies as he attempts to manipulate others, cover up his own misdeeds, and ultimately satisfy his own ego. The movie uses the diagnosis of bipolar disorder, but his behavior seems more like borderline personality disorder. To that end, Damon is quite good at the role, and the viewer is just as exasperated with him as anyone would be when dealing with someone with BPD. I'm not sure if being exasperated with the main character makes for an entertaining movie, but it is certainly a character study of mental disorders and how untenable they can be for people who attempt to put their trust in these kinds of individuals. Whitacre's wife is a perfect example of the roller coaster that loved ones experience as they try to be supportive.

Matt Damon had a few good scenes in this but overall, it failed in the end not worthy of rewatching or adding to a collection.
