You'll Wish You Were There
The Delite Rancher | Phoenix, Arizona | 05/30/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Jam in the Dam" may be the best jamband DVD to date. Unlike the epic scope of a Bonnaroo or High Sierra, this is an event that typically features only four bands. Thus the two disc DVD reflects the event in that what it lacks in diversity, it makes up with depth. All four musical acts are given a large share of screen time. Keller Williams' performance proves that he puts on the most dynamic one man show. Particle and the Disco Biscuits trip hard. If there was any doubt in your mind that Umphrey's McGee is filling the vacuum that Phish left, watch their set. It is dynamic, bombastic, intellectual, mind expanding and simply phenomenal. Pound for Pound, this block of music exceeds their own DVD "Wrapped Around Chicago." Beyond the music, the vignettes give the feel of what it's like to attend a jamband event in Amsterdam. The production for "Jam in the Dam" is tops. Creative video editing, soundboard audio and good camera work make this first rate. If you have a broad interest in jambands or are a fan of the featured groups, "Jam in the Dam" is essential watching."
