"Whoa, Momma ! It's finally here !
The first season of Johnny Bravo has finally flexed his way onto a terrific 2-disc DVD set ! Join your favorite muscle-brained, lady-lovin', Elvis-talkin' macho man as he scours the globe - or at least his hometown of Aron City - as he searches for the girl of his fantasies in the first 13 episodes of this swingin' series including:
"Super Duped" - Little Suzy takes Johnny to school as a Show-and-Tell project claiming that he's a superhero. Now Johnny must defeat a villain in order to impress Suzy's teacher.
"Bravo-Dooby-Doo" - In this cool crossover, Johnny enlists the help of the Scooby-Doo gang to help him find his missing aunt.
"Date with an Antelope" - Johnny's date that he met online turns out to be a talking antelope !
"Cookie Crisis" - Suzy continuously tries to tempt Johnny into buying her girl scout cookies in this whimsical rhyming adventure.
"I Used to Be Funny" - Learn why Johnny hates clowns as two of them go against each other.
"Talk to Me, Baby" - Johnny gets cast in a beautiful model's talk show.
"Beach Blanket Bravo" - It's nothing but a day at the beach for Johnny as he takes part in a surfing contest.
"The Perfect Gift" - Johnny desperately looks for a great Mother's Day gift for his mama, Bunny, by getting a job. Only thing is, he doesn't like working.
"Red Faced in the White House" - Johnny dates the President's daughter.
Other episodes include guest appearances by famous people like Farrah Fawcett, Adam West, and Donny Osmond (who later appeared in the Christmas and Valentine's Day specials). And with some great episodes on this set, there are some greater special features like commentaries on 3 key episodes with folks like Van Partible, the creator of Bravo and Jeff Bennett, the voice of Bravo; pencil tests for the two pilot episodes; a temp track for "The Sensitive Male" (the one where Johnny gets musically schooled on how to treat women better); and "Bringing Up Bravo" where Van, Jeff and few other people who worked on the first season look back on how this amazing series took off.
Even though the series has a few innuendos spouting from Bravo's mouth, he never seems to get the girl in the end. But he's still a good guy and his mama says so at that. As for me, I'll be enjoying this, until the rest of the series gets underway. But look for the next 2-disc set to premiere in the new "Cartoon Network Hall of Fame" series: "Courage the Cowardly Dog - Season 1" coming next month !"
