Movie Reviews

What an Emotional Show!!
Michael W. Jackson | Scranton, PA USA | 02/23/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I already had and love "Live at the Point" and was quite surprised that there was no concert DVD for "A New Day at Midnight" so I was more than a little eager to get my hands on this DVD. Most of the songs are from his latest album "Life in Slow Motion" with a couple of older songs thrown in. It is so enjoyable to watch Gray perform these songs because he completely loses himself in each song. He also does longer versions of his great songs like "Nightblindness" and "Lately" that are a must to see. There are a couple songs that were edited from the show that were on the album such as "From Here You Can Almost See the Sea" and he does certain classics that were already on "Live at the Point". I would love to hear his other songs performed live than to see those again. Maybe in the future the marketing people will keep that in mind. The disc also has three great videos and a 10 minute "making of" video that for me is WAY too short. It's a smaller cut of the video that's already on the other side of his deluxe studio album. After such a great and long add on from "Live at the Point" you would think the people who put this together would know not to give us less that what has been given before. I give this 5 stars because what you get is truely amazing and a must to own. David Gray is a true global treasure to be cherished. The marketing people, on the other hand, need to use more of the space a DVD gives to give those of us who love David Gray more to tide us over until his next DVD. I hope this helped:)"

"This may be the best DVD live concert of 2006! I can't tell you how exceptional the sound and picture quality of this product is...stupendous!
Even if you are currently not a David Gray fan....have a listen to "You're The One I Love" or "Hospital Food" and you will quickly recognize greatness in all its glory!
This performer gives every song exquisite care and the result is excellence in every detail. I can't recommend this show enough! Run out and buy it! You will not be disappointed!"

Band performance= 9/10
David= 8/10
Film's Director= 3/10 (pretend to film in original, different way, but instead should be ordinary, as usual)
Overall: 7/10, great concert"

"This is the best you are going to get listening to him on your couch. The sound is great, the camera work is excellent, and most of the songs are new (which could make you swing one way or the other). I'd like to see some older stuff but he is a very talened performer regardless. Bottomline- if you like him, you will like this."
