Cloud Ten sets out on an ambitious project to cinematize the Left Behind series of books with a limited budget. While viewers should not expect this to effort to excite or thrill in the way of a Bruckheimer blockbuster actioner, the subject matter of the story and religious themes simply would never get the kind of budget those films get. Since indie art films get this kind of pass, Left Behind should also get the same consideration. Overall, an interesting take on the traditional post-apocalyptic scenario, particularly given that society does not just simply break down immediately. Perhaps the most realistic aspect of the plot is the "world government" that results from crisis and the poor choices of those leaders left behind. Cameron seems kind of "twerpy" in several scenes and there are some scenes where one wishes the characters would get out of 'slo-mo' in their decision-making. The plot can get a little confusing at times, but overall it is essentially 'The Omen' without the gore and a specific focus on the Christian message. While it is intended to be a family film, there are certainly scenes that warrant a PG-13 warning for young children unaccustomed to the usual violence in movies.

The best one was the first Left Behind it had a lot of what Revelations talks about. As the second and third one went on it had less of the bible and more of a story line. Overall it was really good. I will be keeping this one for a while. :)

Read the books firs

"I am on the last (12th) book, "Glorious Appearing" after having devoured the Left Behind bound series. I had seen the first movie, "Left Behind" years before and enjoyed it, although it did leave you hanging. I purchased the books and read them and at the same time purchased the 3 DVD's. I just finished watching all 3 movies. I was disappointed. The script somewhat followed the books, but then by World at War, it went off into its own world. The characters I grew to love in the books were almost one-dimensional in the movie. If you watch the special features you will see interviews with various celebrities about the movie. I wish they had made more of the story into the movie. Janaya ("Chloe") mentioned how long everything took, but I was surprised, and had to reverse it to hear it again, to learn that it was only 6 weeks of filming. After seeing the 95 minute features I can believe it. This had so much potential, but dropped the ball. Although I must say, the actors were terrific! Everyone matched the descriptions and personalities in the books. Gordon Currie was incredible as the Antichrist! I caution you to read the books first, then watch the movies. If not, you will not appreciate the deeper meaning to them. You don't even need to be religious really, just appreciate the remarkable insights. Thank you Kirk Cameron for helping to bring the story to life, except it should have been more alive."

"I read all the Left Behind books in a whirlwind. I found the movies just as exciting. I watched all three back to back. Very moving and genuine. Should bring everyone to their knees - praise God! I hope more Christian based movies are released."

"This was a nice try, but it was a very cheap attempt. I know movies can never reproduce every scene in a book, and often have to change things to convey the feel of the story. But the feel of the movies is nowhere near as intense or emotional as the books. They were ok, but the books were way better."
