Movie Reviews

Just awful

"It promises romance but there isn't any in the three expensive dvds you get in this collection. One is a short ridiculous sci fi, the first film featuring Lucy "Xena", australian, with just a short kiss beetween two women, no plot at all. The others looked like experimental short films from the seventies, with very bad actors and actresses, no story lines, shaky cameras and no edition. Spare yourself and be sure to miss these!"
The other person who wrote above me is ignorant

"Granted, I cannot comment on the two movies that are not the Watermelon Woman, but I felt the need to at least defend this movie b/c it is not "a shaky camera film from the seventies with no plot." The Watermelon Woman is groundbreaking and I needed to say that to those of us who might be considering purchasing this set and had to read the above review. I wish that I could comment on the others, and am actually driven to rent them based on the fact that the original commenter has no appreciation for such art and heart as the Watermelon Woman. There are no lesbian movies for black women that have substance, and when one comes along (such as The Watermelon Woman) it should not be shoved aside and hated because one doesn't relate to it's message. I just needed to let it be known that I personally have been affected positively in many ways by simply knowing this film exists. Now I just have to watch the others included in this pack :)"
