The King of New Orleans holds court in Austin, Texas!

"This DVD available performance is over 20 years-old and it still
brought tears of joy watching it. Fats Domino was 58 years old when he performed on Austin City Limits. It might as well have been 1949 or 1959. Fats is one of an extremly few, and I do mean extremely few, artists who sound in a live performance just as they do on their original recordings. Many of the great players who have been a part of Fats' recording career were on hand for this concert. Dave Bartholomew, Lee Allen, Freddie Kemp and the still "master of the sax" Herb Hardesty.
Fats and his crew were in top shape for this affair and they most obviously were having fun. Of course, in a 17 song concert
there were some great hits that had to be missed. Most notably absent were the top 10 hits "Valley Of Tears" and its flip side top 10 hit "It's You I Love". Also no time for "Whole Lotta Lovin' or "Be My Guest". But it was great to witness his perfomances of other top 20 classics "My Blue Heaven", "Let The Four Winds Blow", "My Girl Josephine" "Three Nights A Week" and the vastly undervalued "I'm Ready. Fats didn't forget the pre-"Blueberry Hill" hits either. "Poor Me", "All My Myself" and the top 10 hit "Ain't That A Shame" (Incorectly labeled "Ain't It A Shame" when it was released in 1955).
You don't even have to be a Fats fanatic, such as I, to enjoy this DVD 100%. If you've ever heard a Fats Domino song that should be enough motivation for you to pick up this DVD."

"The soundtrack is rather poor, the DVD is short, and the camera work is mediocre at best. But it is still "Fats", just as good in later years."
A true original

"Fats Domino is simply that. One of the classic performers Fat's is true to his music as are all originals remembered for being themselves rather that immatating someone else. This performance was recorded late in 1986 and Fats Domino appears to have made time stand still with his easy appealing style. The smile and rolling eyes hadn't changed in the thirty odd years he had been performing these songs. I always appreciate it when an artist performs their classics as they originally recorded them and thats what he does here "I'm Walking", "I Want To Walk You Home","Walking To New Orleans" and "Ain't That A Shame" all great."
Just great Domino

"The music is just great. Musicians are having fun. Nothing like a live performance. If you like Fats Domino you will love this."
