This is an unusual documentary: the byline says "by Anton Yelchin." Haha. It begins with a precocious Yelchin as a child making a film holding up his handmade sign and repeating "by Anton Yelchin." There may have been several iterations of his pretend filmmaking. At any rate, it is film on the short whirlwind life of Anton Yelchin documenting his journey into film and his tenacity to make films. I read a stat once that John Wayne, for example, made 72 films over his film career, that was about two films per year. In comparison, Yelchin made close to 70 films in his short career. What an incredible life as told through interviews with many of the people with whom he worked and touched. One remarkable such relationship was with Martin Landau who said he sat and talked with him for hours, and this when Yelchin was a teenager. You get the impression watching this film that he was an artistic genius, always open to the world and learning new things and discussing everything that captured his interest--so much so that he influenced those around him. It's quite a touching portrait. I give it 5 stars. This is one I would highly recommend.
