Not sure why anyone could think this is a terrible movie. Perhaps you forgot about the vomit-inducing "Superman Returns" with Brandon Routh, which is without a doubt the worst Superman film ever. And talking about big name actors just cashing in a paycheck...look no further than Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor in "Superman Returns". He's an amazing actor, but that was his worst performance ever. Amy Adams? She's terrible in this film. Costner was just okay for the little time he spent on screen.
Henry Cavill gave us the best Superman since Christopher Reeves. But, as always, I find it unbelievable that just by wearing glasses Clark Kent is never recognized as Superman by anyone.
The film gives us one of the better insights to Kal-El's birth and the reasons his parents sent him away. As far as the big "S" on his costume we were given the best explanation of its meaning ever. Amy Adams seems to have just phoned in her acting. She shines in other movies, but comes off as ridiculous and completely incompetent in this movie. Hell, even Russell Crowe's hologram outshines her. Cavill is an excellent actor with great expressiveness (just watch him in The Man from U.N.C.L.E). In "Batman vs. Superman" he was undercut by the worst acting ever(as always)from Ben Affleck.
Man of Steel is the best reboot of Superman. It's well worth watching.

i don't usually bother commenting on bad movies but thought i should try to save some folks the agony of sitting through this one. wonder why no one else has written a single review about this film here on swap when the film was released nearly two years ago? maybe it's because most folks already wasted over 2 hours of their time watching the thing and don't want to lose any more of their lives complaining about it.

lots of big names in the cast, mostly just cashing in on big paychecks for little work i have to assume. costner is the only one who puts up a decent performance and that could just be because he got one of the better roles as superman's adoptive human father, maybe that part was better written. it's the worst film i've ever seen with amy adams in it, her role is just horrible and i love her work in general. incredibly disappointing overall.

i really had a hard time sitting through this film and can still feel the pain several months after as i write these comments.

skip it if you can. bossajake
