DISC 1: FROM NORMANDY TO PARIS
On June 6, 1944, in Operation Overlord, Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy and commenced the long awaited liberation of Europe. In less than 100 days, triumphant Allied armies were marching through the streets of Paris. Beginning with the hard-fought Normandy
landings, we follow the Allied armies as they establish and consolidate
their beachheads and begin the long slow march across the fields of
Normandy. By August, the Allied armies had broken through German lines and begun a frenzied dash across northern France to save Paris from imminent destruction. On August 25th, church bells throughout Paris rang out announcing that after four years of enemy occupation, Paris was again a free city.
