I would not recommend this movie for small children. It's violent, frightening, and very un-Christmassy. The rats and rat kings are animated at times to make vicious faces that left my 6 year old in tears. Of course, she's a sensitive child, but even I was turned off by this movie. The music and some of the acting, Nathan Lane, for instance, are the only palatable parts of this movie. Its subject material is simply not for children. We'll stick with the ballet.
