The Best Minnie
Operafilly | Fallbrook, Ca United States | 07/02/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Fanciulla is my favorite Puccini opera and I saw it live with Corelli, Collier, and Ludgin. Of course, no tenor is going to come up to Corelli's big toe. And Limarelli is not pleasant to look and and sounds very nasal. Stella is what makes this version so special. She is spectacular, acting and singing. She is the only Minnie that bounces around like a country gal with all that youthful energy. This gal radiates!! Most of the other Minnies act like they are in their 30s or 40s. Really sedate, except for Daniels. You get this one for the Minnie. The sets and direction are 50 years old so don't expect the polish of later versiona."
