Rawhead Rex is a Clive Barker story about a pagan-worshipped creature unwittingly freed to terrorize a small Irish town. The name of the movie seems poorly chosen, but the name is apparently based upon actual Irish folklore. I'm assuming that the written story is much better. There are some interesting ideas in the film, but the action is sub-par and the creature is fake-looking, even by 1980s standards. There are a couple of surprises in the script, but most of it is predictable with a VERY cliche ending. Not very entertaining as a serious movie, but also not very entertaining from an unintentional, comedic angle either. Laughing at Rex gets tired by half-way through the movie, and there's still plenty of him yet to endure.
