Movie Reviews

A Great Big Disappointment

"I am a huge Rod Stewart fan. However, this DVD is an absolute joke. I was hoping it would be a collection of concerts and videos like the KISSOLOGY volumes celebrating the career of the band KISS. Doesn't ROD STEWART deserve such a video anthology? Yes he does (hint, hint). This DVD is not it. It is incredibly over priced. Furthermore, the performaces on the DVD are partial. They are clips of ROD STEWART Live in Melbourne from 1977. I am not exactly sure what the producers of this DVD were even trying to accomplish besides pocketing a few bucks. Trust me, avoid throwing your money away on this. Maybe one day we will receive a great DVD anthology from one of the great rock n roll entertainers of all time."
Avoid this one

"This expensive DVD contains a 65-minute concert from late 1976 and features clips from critis throughout the show. The critics really have nothing unique to say, and the show is just so-so. Highly overpriced. Rod fans should stay away."
A DVD of back handed compliments, of one of the greatest voi

"Rod Stewart: In Performance

I bought this expecting it to show clips of Rod's best performances through out his entire career...Instead it was a poorly pictured 1977 concert in clips. The journalist and book authors focused on his Atlantic Crossing cd and the quote unquote "downfall" of Rod Stewart's career. They kept going back to the faces, and the only comments that came out of them were triggered by the clips they selectively chose, I'm sure to get their agenda taken care of.
What was their agenda you might ask? To give Rod a lot of backhanded compliments...To make you think they are giving Rod props. However it doesn't take much to read between the lines to know that at least two of the reviewers could care less about Rod Stewart, calling him a "Rock N Roll Tart." "He's a great singer, but he loves fame, money, and sold out to being a rock in roll tart," is basically the tone of this dvd.

The pictures are nice in the booklet...I think the booklet actually seems more written in his favor, than the dvd.

These guys don't get Rod, they just like to assume they assume correctly about him. I wasn't looking for them to say all good things about him, but to basically only focus on his shortcomings to me seemed contrived. I was looking for a well put together, comprehensive look into his songs and career, this was not it....A shame really...

This is all I have to say to the people that made this dvd and sat there thinking their info was golden : "The critics, the cynics, who never understood it,where are they now?" - Rod Stewart "Only a boy."

You want to know where they are? Making this terribly over priced dvd...That's where they are now.
