A Complete Service

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this DVD from the Reagan Library after watching the coverage of Reagan's funeral service this past summer. I was fascinated and moved by the protocol of a State Funeral and the love that protruded through the Reagan family and this nation for President Reagan. It is rare in our country that a State Funeral occurs and where the entire nation takes a moment to stop and notice. The DVD provides coverage of all services that occurred - (1) US Capitol Rotunda Service, (2) US Capitol Rotunda Depature, (3) National Cathedral Funeral Service, (4) Reagan Library Family Service, and (5) Reagan Library Final Sunset Service. The services were all presented without commentary and allowed me to experience the procession on my own. As a bonus, there is historical footage and photos of President Reagan. In short, this DVD provides a complete and dignified farewell to one of our nation's leaders that can be revisited and shared with future generations to come."
An Honorable Tribute

"An exceptionally well done and moving tribute to the greatest leader of the free world we have yet to encounter. This has it all, the full services in Washington to the sunset services at the Reagan Library in CA. A very impressive display of precision and symbolism by the military that is as inspirational as it is emotional. Video and sound is top notch, taking you up close and showing you things unseen by the various cable coverages. The bonus features and photo galleries stand on their own. Beautiful pieces of music throughout. Dutch would have been proud, I know I am."

"Reagan was quite a man and I enjoyed the DVD about him. It covered his Presidency beautifully. I find myself watching this recording many times. I just wish he was still around, but thanks to all the material available, I can continue to enjoy watching him. I hope more come out so I can contiue to watch them."

""A Shining City on a Hill" That is what Ronald Reagen called Washington "Slipping the surley bonds of Earth to Touch the Face of God" That is what Reagen call the astronauts of the Challenger Seven he became our comforter in times of National Disaters. But for us June 6, 2004 will stand as a day of National Mourning as our 40th president Ronald Wilson Reagen slipped the surrley bonds of earth to touch the face of his savior and have a wonderful moment with god. I was just born as Reagen took office in January of 1981. I was born seven months later in 1981 and a little over 4 months after Reagen was shot in a assassination attempt on his life. I myself got to bear witness to this national event for over the next week it was an amazing television journey watching the man I idolized as a high schooler and now watching him get laid to rest was a moment for me all too surreal. I got to watch the State Funeral an event in itself and it was totally amazing the Right Honorable John Danforth presided over the services a I belive former Senator and now the Reagens Pastor and friend presideing over the "Gippers" funeral service and the song selection was amazing and it was very cool to listen to the amazing songs and Ronan Tynan whom sang them during the services including one of my personal favorites during the services Amazing Grace. It sunk in for me as they left Washington after nearly two days of wonderful services for President Reagen. I had gotten up at 8 AM on the day of his final services to be held in Washington and got to see Nancy Reagen go up to the casket in the final hours of President Reagen lying in state in the Captiol Rotunda and seeing Nancy whispering something to him in the casket possibly saying we will be home soon Ronnie drove me to tears seeing this wonderful women whom stood by him in the white house and left the white house with him in 89' was an amazing site and then to finally see her break down in the end at the sunset service in California. Then to see them leave Washington for the final time in Air Force 1 and head to a sunset service in California was amazing and I felt as a person and a person whom loved reagen was amazed by the love and support that flowed through Washington in the five days that this took place was amazing. To remember hearing of Reagens passing was an amazing thing in itself I remember seeing the headline on that morning was a Saturday morning a week before all the services which were to take place the following weeek. And Brokaw told us as a nation the 40th president had passed at the age of 93 and I turned off the TV and cried the man I idolized in school had passed on and left us for it was then that I realized I would get to bear witness to the first state funeral in the 21st Century and it would be amazing and all too emotional. We saw at the sunset service family and friend gather around Nancy and we all got to say one final farewell to the man as he himself called on January 19, 1989 when he left office the Great Communicator get his final sendoff in amazing style a very lavish 20 or 30 minute drive through Simi Valley California to the Ronald Reagen Library to deliver his body to the grave I remember that day for only one reason that is the day Ronald Reagen would be bourn to God himself and Jesus Christ would be ready for him a wonderful man and I thank god we had him as our President and I was a proud American that day he left us we saw a wonderful funeral service and a even better sunset service this will be a set worth buying."
