A Great Memento of a Great Artist.
David D. Dollinger | Pasadena, CA | 06/27/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The performane of Die Schone Mullerin is one of DFD's last. It has the advantage of being given live as opposed to a studio effort. As a result the earlier songs suffer somewhat, but as the singer warms up we are clearly in the land of a great artist. An artist who still has immense control over his voice. There is no wobble, nor a hint of poor intonation. It would be dishonest of me to claim that it would compare to his earlier studio efforts, but there is enough for the lieder lover and the connisseur of voice. While the resources may have diminished his command over them is sovereign.

The bonus consists of a master class (in this case one on one) of the Count's aria from Nozze di Figaro. The young singer is to be commended
although it is clear he has a long way to go.

Highly recommended"
