The venue is small, tiny really, and accoustically near-perfect. If you get there early you can sit with your feet on the stage and watch him work from five feet away. Tommy's skills on the guitar surpass all others I have seen. I am officially a "senior" and have marveled at the skills of many. This DVD, "Tommy Emmanuel - Live at Her Majesty's Theatre," captures the Tommy you see in person. Each song is prefaced by Tommy telling you about it, and what it means to him. The production is wonderful. There are shots of all of him and shots of just his guitar and his fingers flying in a way that looks impossible, but there it is. Listen for the influences of some of his heroes. There is Chet Atkins "The Chief" who inspired, mentored, and recorded with Tommy. There is Les Paul and Doc Watson. You will likely pick out more. Whether you are a long time fan or are just learning about Tommy Emmanuel the guitar player, singer, song-writer, humanitarian, Son, Dad, and most delightfully captivating entertainer, do youself a great big favor.
