A lavish BBC production for the Starz network. And you'll recognize many a familiar actor here if you watch British fare. This is a historically dense period (the War of the Roses in the 15th century) full of much plotting and body counts. Though some characters are amalgamated, this is quite accurate in account. That being said, I'm rather certain folks at this time were a wee bit more smelly than they appear on screen here, as well as their teeth being so sparkling in display (then again, most actors, either side of the pond, wear insert veneers, if not actual cosmetic dentistry.) Much of the acting is intensely over-the-top dramatic, when they are not parading about brandishing their birthday suits. Still, in order to fit thirty years of history into ten episodes, years collapse into minutes, intricate policy is condensed into the odd cardboard personality, and the characters are swiftly categorized as good or evil, when human nature tends toward something more mitigating.

A sequel entitled "The White Princess" was aired in 2017, without BBC involvement. In March of 2018, Starz announced a further continuation "The Spanish Princess".
