Movie Reviews

Blu-Ray Review

(4 out of 5 stars)

"No Special Features at all with the Blu-Ray Edition. Picture is better than the standard dvd but not by a whole lot."
DVD extras are omitted from this release

"First off, I'll say the the quality of the product, taken by itself, is very good. The picture quality is pretty amazing for a film that was cobbled together from all manner of sources: 35mm, 16mm and 8mm film, NTSC and PAL video, etc. The sound quality is strong, too.

The reason I only give it four stars is because none of the extras that were on the second disc of the DVD release are available on the Blu-ray release. And there were tons of great extras.

In short, if you already have the DVD, the Blu-ray is a must-buy because of the HD quality. But don't get rid of your DVD if you want the extra features. If you don't already have the DVD, you may need to get both if you want Maximum Who!"

"I saw this in the theaters wwwaaayyy back in '79. I actually got the double lp a while before the movie came out. This is hands down, without a doubt, my favorite movie/musical/documentary of all time. I've bought The Kids Are Alright on (ready for this??) album, cassette tape, vhs, dvd, and now on Blue Ray...I just couldn't resist. If you are a fan of The Who, this is a must have....if you're not, you'd still find it enjoyable. I can't say enough good about this, it's my favorite! J."
"Special Edition" DVD
Dr. Feelgood | USA | 02/11/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Two disc set, The film, "The Kids Are Alright", remastered picture and sound, really shines on DVD. A well constructed documentary of Who footage, live performances and TV clips. Plus you get Special Features on disc two, like: John's care angle on, "Baba" and "Won't Get Fooled" with just his audio, so you see and hear his bass playing. Roger talks about the film and the band as well."
