The Wiggles Magical Adventure seems to be the only Wiggles live action DVD that has a story line. Unlike the other Wiggles titles, which are mostly comprised of songs and skits, this title is more like a movie. It is also introduces some new characters that have some actual acting skills (no Grammy winners, but definitely good quality for childrens programming). Unlike the other Wiggles titles, this movie seems to have a much bigger budget and is exceptionally well directed. The directorial quality is what really makes this title outstanding. Unfortunately, the director, Dean Covell, does not seem to have directed any other Wiggles titles.

My 2 year old daughter just loves this movie and the adults find it extremely tolerable to watch, even repeatedly. It has therefore become the family favorite. If your kids like The Wiggles as mine do, The Wiggles Magical Adventure is a must have for your collection.

Movie Reviews

Fun for both kids and adults!

"This first time I put this DVD in I was like this is horrible. My daughter didn't think much of it either. She's a year old and their are few things that hold her attention. I put this video in again and it was totally different to us. I don't know what happened, but it's great now. The editing isn't so great but it appears that these guys love what they do.

We watch this movie everyday. My daughter runs over to the TV when we get home and points to the Wiggles DVD.

I read several of the reviews that compared this with Barney. This is so not Barney! I realize that some of the jokes are lame and the acting isn't the best, but at least the main characters are not a big purple dinos.

Bottom line: You and your child will both enjoy this movie. The songs are catchy and you find yourself singing them everywhere.

The only part of the movie that scared my daughter was Wally the Magician. His hair is wild and sometimes he can have a mean look on his face. So when they do a close up it scares her. Hey, it would scare me too."
Not as slick as the show, but fun for kids

"My 22-month-old loves this movie ("WallyWallyWally," as she calls it--a reference to the theme song about the film's protagonist), and she will gladly sit through it several times straight through if I allow her to. Initially, I was surprised. She adores The Wiggles, and we own quite a few of their videos. Yet, at her age, her attention span is short, and she typically gets up and leaves the room after just a few songs, regardless of which tape she's watching. So, when I sat down to watch this with her the first time and saw that it was a traditional movie, with dialogue and plot, I didn't expect much. But for some reason, it holds her interest, and she does her best to explain to me what's going on in the simple but pleasant story (regarding a sad-sack magician, Dorothy's disappearance on her birthday, and The Wiggles' efforts to find her in time for her surprise party). After a few viewings, the film began to remind me more than a little of "Barney's Great Adventure," which my son became similarly addicted to five years ago. The two have a lot in common--similar plots and production, simple set dressings featuring bold colors, slapstick comedy, cheesey special effects, etc. But I would rather watch this film any day than that one, as I suspect most parents would. The film isn't great, but it's not horrible, either. And over time, it's more likely to hold the kids' interest than the monotony of the song-collection videos from the group."
My kids just love these guys!

"Over the past 3 years we have been watching all the Wiggles movies and my kids love these guys. They sit for hours watching, singing and dancing along. The Wiggles Magic Adventure is a great time for the kids. Lasting over a hour in length you find some new songs as well as some real favorites like Point your Fingers, Dorothy Would you like to Dance with Me? and Hot Potatoes. It was an enjoyable time watching the Wiggles search for Dorothy and and Wally the Great as Wally tries to wins a Magic competition. You'll find yourself routing for the underdog in this one.Overall very enjoyable and for the price it's a very good buy. While this video has been out in Australia for a couple of years now it is certainly different than any other Wiggles Video we have."
