This was a fascinating look back into the mid-1800s and how they lived, not the typical travel across the United States in a covered wagon, but at one home/farm. It shows how they actually lived (in houses with holes between the boards), what they ate, and the crops and livestock they kept. It also shows the relationships they had with their neighbors. It's also about the friendship between two wives, a very slow-moving, yet sensual relationship that leads to more. It also depicts the heartache and struggles during that time.
