Movie Reviews

Xpw delivers a great night of action from the Pico Rivera!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"U.S Indie promotion "Xtreme Pro Wrestling" comes through with promises of a memorable night! For the first time in America an outdoor arena will hold a "Exploding ring death match" not only is there explosions every time a wrestler falls outside the ring but there aren't any ropes in the ring either. The card went like this:1.) Scott Snot vs. D
2.) G.Q. Money vs. Angel
3.) Damien 666 & Halloween vs. Kronus & Kraq
4.) Steve Rizzono vs. Pogo The Clown
5.) Psicosis vs. Juventud Guerrera - 3 star match
6.) Damien Steele vs. Konnan
7.) Kaos vs. New Jack - TV title
8.) Johnny Webb vs. Leroy - World title
10.) Johnny Webb vs. Vampiro vs. The Sandman - World title
11.) Supreme vs. Vic Grimes - Exploding Ring, Tubed Florescent Light Bulb, Deathmatch"
XPW - Blown to Hell: eh ok

"This was my first look at XPW. After seeing pretty krazy stuff on their web page, i figured i would try out their newest release. It wasn't terrible but i was still disappointed. Here is a run-down: 1) Scott Snott vs D - ok, both guys at least have a knowledge of fundamental wrestling and in ring presence ** (out of *****)2) GQ Money vs Angel - really good match, both guys are technically sound and good flyers, interference made it less enjoyable (TJ Rush is a joke) **** 3)Damien 666 and Halloween vs Kronus and Kraq - garbage, i used to love kronus but when did he get so fat and useless? Kraq is a joke of a wrestler wether he knows it or not. Damien and Halloween sold thigs well but rarely left their feet unlike what they normally due. poor match * 4) Steve Rizzono vs Pogo the Clown - weak, rizzono isn't bad as he at least sells moves properly, but Pogo is oooo overrated. The only entertaining part is when Rizzono is nearly powerbombed thru the ring *1/2 (1.5) 5) Psicosis vs Juvi -decent but i expected more from these 2 renound flyers, neither guy really left their feet, but a technically sound battle *** 6) Damien Steele vs Konnan - garbage, the worst match of the card and one of the worst i have ever seen. I normally like Konnan but after this i am aware of the garbage he is capable of. Damien Steele is really awful as he doesn't sell moves or move in general a whole lot. I fell asleep, woke up and fast forwarded -* (note minus) 7)Kaos vs New Jack - kinda dumb as most of it is a weak crowd brawl, but when new jack gets a hold of GQ Money, one of the most spectacular balcony dives ever occurs! * for match **** for after match beating 8)Webb vs Leeroy the ringcrew dude - actually not bad as the match was short but fast paced and had real wrestling ** 8.5)Webb vs Vampiro vs Sandman - the second worst match of the card as one would expect a lot from sandman and vampiro (i love both of em) but the whole match is them walking around the ring hitting each other with [inexpensive] looking [stuff]. The only person who looks at all good is Webb. no stars! 9) Grimes vs Supreme (exploding ring, landmine match) the exploding ring and landmines were stupid as the landmines errupted way away from wrestlers and were not harmful, and the "explosion" [disappointed]. The match was good as both men mauled each other with light tubes, barbed wire, pizza cutters etc. Grimes even hits a summersault topee (rvd style flip out of the ring)over the wire into a landmine and a bed of wire. Good death match **** All in all not a terrible show, but could have been better. GQ Money and Angel are terrific. Also the spanish announcer is really funny, and i don't know y people make fun of him! Anyway this tape is not a good way to get into XPW, wait for Freefall, Genocide or their last event (i don't remember the name)"
Bad undercard!

"The undercard for this event in quite terrible, no good fights untill Kaos vs. New Jack, and thats only good after the match ends and GQ Money comes out.
The only really good match on the disc in the exploding ring deathmatch between Grimes and Supreme, but even this match has its flaws. Unlike the infamous Terry Funk, Cactus Jack exploding ring deathmatches, the explosives are next to the beds of barbed wire and not under them, so really it just looks like a fireworks display next to the wrestler when they land on them. So you have to ask yourself is one really good match worth the $...+ you have to pay for this disc? The DVD comes with these extras, match histories and a XPW "best of" video clip which is pretty cool."
