Great instructional dvd for the FUNK guitar style
Micah B. Evans | USA | 02/27/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have always loved funk music. I grew up in the 70's and 80's with that style of music. I have been playing guitar now for over 25 years now, and I must say, I love Funk music. The scratching, 9th chords, the syncopation, etc. Love it. Love to get in the groove, get right into the pocket in a tight group. I knew a few funk licks, and chords, but I decided I wanted to know more, to branch out more, so I was at my local Guitar Center, going thru the instructional dvds, when I came across this one. I read the back, as I did all the rest, and something just stood out about this particular dvd. So, I decided to take a chance and get it. Man, Im glad I took that chance. Its one of the best instructional dvds around. Allan (Dr. Licks) Slutsky is the teacher, and he is really good on this dvd. He leads you from James Brown licks,Nile Rodgers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and everything in between. Alot of so called instructional videos, are not instructional at all, but mostly entertainment, where the artist plays, you watch, etc, and really get no instruction what so ever. Not so with this dvd. He breaks it down, plays it all slow, then with the band, where you get to hear it in many ways. You can see his right and left hand clearly all thru the dvd. If your into Funk, or just want to expand you knowledge of the guitar, I highly recommend this dvd.... Get it..."
