Incredible Show

"This is a great live performance that was well filmed and remastered. I highly recommend it for any Bob Marley fan. If you have never heard or seen a Bob Marley concert, you are missing out and this would be an excellent place to start. Bob Marley is one of the greatest musicians ever and one of the best live performers ever (in my opinion) and this concert is proof of that. Bob lives on in "The Legend Live". Additionally, it not only includes the 20 tracks that another reviewer wrote about but it also includes a 21st track "War/No More Trouble". Also, it includes a 51-minute documentary on Bob (primarily an interview with Bob) and another extra with great fan commentary about Bob and his message and music."

"I have owned this on vhs for several years and to see it expanded and remastered for dvd release was quite a thrill to me. The original version of this was only a few songs, the set list on the dvd is at least doubled, and now contains the entire concert. There is a documentary and some interviews with Bob and Tyrone Downie (keyboards) talking about Rastafari. The concert however, is the main feature and Bob and the Wailers really showed up to play. Seeing the horn section live in concert is quite rare, the horns only toured with the band on the 1979 tour, so any video from it is quite rare. Some rarely performed songs are also featured in this dvd release, the one that stands out to me is "So Much Things to Say" from the Exodus album. This song is a real gem and wasn't performed much in concert by the Wailers. If you like Bob Marley and the Wailers, this dvd is for you. The audio quality is amazing, and the video for being so old is actually quite good. The documentary and interview with Bob and Tyrone only add to this dvd. If you like the Wailers or reggae music, this dvd is for you, if you don't get it borrow it from a friend, it is that good."
Pure and Positive Vibrations!

"For the seasoned fan of Bob Marley, or a new recruit, this DVD is a must have! This concert was performed at basically the pinnacle of Bob's career in late 1979, not long before his death. It includes all his top songs and is done so superbly - it brought me back to my teens(!) when I was lucky enough to have attended his last concert in Toronto.
This concert features a great performance by the Wailers (esp. Junior Murvin on lead guitar and the I-Threes (unfortunately minus Marcia Griffiths)). The Barrett brothers and 'Seeco' Patterson are strong, Al Anderson is there too, but he is very much in the background, with Murvin definitely taking a lead role. Due to camera angles, Tyrone Downie (keyboards) is not too visible, but you hear him loud and clear.
The venue in Santa Barbara is perfect for the concert, and it makes you wish you were there! It is amazing how few black fans there are in attendance, and like the host/producer of the DVD says in a very interesting interview and documentary which accompanies the concert, it is strange how Bob was never that popular with U.S. blacks. Certainly, I feel that the Reggae scene basically started going downhill with the death of Bob Marley, as the younger crowd seemed to favour the negative and crude style of dance hall and rap. It's a shame that so many young kids missed out on the positive, upbeat message of Bob Marley and the Wailers.
For this reason alone, I recommend that this DVD be shown to the youth, so that they can learn a bit more about the man, the band, and the roots of Bob's Rastafarian beliefs. It's a great short history on the subject. Listen to the simple and true lyrics which can be practically applied to the world of today. This concert was a classic - so I recommend it whole-heartedly. "Wake Up and Live" with a "Positive Vibration" !"
