Member Movie Reviews![]() Reviewed on 8/10/2017... What's a Cheech without a Chong? Still fun, silly, and entertaining! And if you look closely on the wall you might see a Tommy after all. This is Cheech Marin at his silliest with a group of friends including Paul Rodriguez and Daniel Stern. This poor Mexican, who was born in East LA cannot speak Spanish and when bussed down to TJ finds it difficult to get back into the country where he was born. Fast and fun entertainment. 1 of 1 member(s) found this review helpful. ![]() Reviewed on 2/2/2009... This is a hilarious movie. Paul Rodriguez holds his own and makes a perfect straight man. 1 of 1 member(s) found this review helpful.
Movie ReviewsDon't buy this version. It's edited! F. Ceballos | Los Angeles, CA. | 08/03/2000 (2 out of 5 stars) "Don't buy this version of Born in East L.A. They cut out the last half hour of the film. Try finding a version with the original cover, that has Cheech Marin crossing the border through barbed-wire. Otherwise, I would give this movie a 5 star rating." Good DVD, yet not a good cut Gabriel Pérez D. | Chicago, IL United States | 05/26/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "This version of the film on DVD is better than the one from goodtimes productions. Yet both versions on DVDs are very edited from the original version. The film is a little longer, on scene in particular is the marriage scene at the end, how else did Rudy end up in a float at the parade, and that is just one major one. This DVD is good, but the old VHS version seems more "complete." I only wish Cheech had the support to create other such films!" Born in East LA DVD James | California Silicone Valley | 05/15/2008 (2 out of 5 stars) "I was expecting the entire movie that I have seen on TV before. I'm very disappointed. The DVD is missing some 27 minutes of the movie, including the parts where Cheech gets his wallet back proving he's an American and the chase leading up to the marriage on the float! The very reason I bought the DVD was to have the whole movie not some cut down version!"
