Movie Reviews

Damini

(5 out of 5 stars)

"It was an excellent movie, and the acting was nothing short of superb! This film gave Sunny Deol his first filmfare best supporting actor award. He made this movie worth seeing over and over for his role as a lawyer. Overall, this movie is a superb drama with excellent acting and wonderful cast. Even though we don't see Sunny until the second half of the movie (1 1/2 hours into the film), his acting alone makes this title an excellent movie for your Indian DVD collection.Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!"
The lightening that strikes right

"One of best movies of both Santhosi and Sheshadri. This movie shows how a next to door girl of humble bearings (of which she is very proud), the strong headed Damini (which means lightening) falls in love with a very rich guy. Depite opposition from guy's family (who think poor can be treated like trash) they get married and Damini starts her new happy life. During holi celebration her brother-in-law molests the young female servant which leads to latter's painful death in hospital. From here the film picks up the momentum when Damini goes to the police and court to get the justice. She is alienated in the process from her husband, asked embarrasing and humiliating question from the defense lawyer and has to face voilent resistance from her in-laws. So the questions is: does she succeed in her fight against injustice? Thats revealed in the beautifully executed climax of the movie.
A must see!"
