Movie Reviews

A Little Disappointed
raisyn | TN United States | 09/27/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Living on the east coast I did not see these when originally aired in the 80's & 90's. I was expecting something along the lines of "Mystery Science Theater", where the hosts would make off-the-wall comments while the film was shown.

With these movies, Ms. Elvira makes comments at the intro and commercial break spots, which isn't bad but not what I was hoping for. The print quality of the films is what you would expect for a late night, locally produced show complete with scratches in the film and pops and cracks in the audio. I must admit this brought back memories of my youth when I would stay up late and watch TV all night."
Elvira's Movie Macabre: Legacy Of Blood / The Devil's Weddin

"Elvira's legacy of blood was ok to watch not very likely to capture attention of any horror movie fans and as for The Devil's Wedding Night the copy of the movie is not that clear at all it seems that it was transfer from vhs and as for the movie was good but also seems that it was cut and not uncut version anyway the plot was good enough to enjoy the full movie, will give 3 stars"
Rosalba Neri In All Her Satanic Splendour ...

"... my take on the devil's wedding night is that this film is italy's answer to the challenge of hammer's karnstein trilogy -- the name karnstein is even mentioned in the film ...

... this movie could be classified as a dracula picture. neri lives in the deceased count dracula's castle and was attached (?) to him at some previous point in time. according to the aurum encylopedia of horror, an alternate title for the devil's wedding night was countess dracula and it's much better than hammer's rather lame countess dracula from '71 directed by peter sadsy. the blood bath sequence from the devil's wedding night is one of the best ever (the one in eli roth's hostel part II is the undeniable champ though) ...

... the italians amped up the sex big-time for the devil's wedding night. and if you've been bitten by rosalba neri's sexy beauty (like i was when i first fell for her in lady frankenstein) this film showcases her magnificence in all its splendour. and it seems the devil's wedding night was shot by none other than the legendary joe d'amato himself! the camera work and the production design is spectacular ...

... and on top of all that, elvira's (and auntie virus') hilarious commentary makes viewing this dvd a religious event ...
