There were numerous British, James Bond type knock-off shows produced during the 1960s and 1970's: Danger Man, The Saint, The Prisoner, The Baron, Secret Agent Man, The Avengers, The Persuaders, Callan, The Champions, Gideon's Way, and I'm sure there's more. "Man in a Suitcase" is another piece of Cold War fare. And a wee bit grittier at that.

Richard Bradford plays John McGill, a CIA agent who's resignation is imposed upon him. After this, he becomes said title of this series, traveling place to place as a free-lance detective and fixer. I've rarely seen the type of berserk assaults and scuffles which take place in these episodes. I can imagine viewers in 1968 being taken quite aback. A few of these have the tar being completely kicked out of our leading protagonist.

Things don't always end up going as planned in these tales either. Some end really awful. And of course, drinking and smoking is pretty much second nature to every character portrayed. This show has held up well over time. It's a dark one. And you'll see many familiar faces throughout. Give it a try!
