The entire time Michael Rank has been at the forefront of the band. This is the story of a band that, while being critical darlings, never managed to find that elusive hit to catapult them to the next level. Persevering through label changes, name changes (Clarissa) and lineup changes, Michael has kept the band going, releasing nine albums over the last twenty years. Comprised of interviews with Michael Rank, bassist Andy McMillan, longtime drummer Sara Romweber, former Mammoth executives Steve Balcom and Lane Wurster, Cat's Cradle owner Frank Heath, producer John Plymale, tour manger Freddy Jenkins and current band members Marc E. Smith, John Howie Jr. and Nikos Chremos. Over twenty songs clips are sampled throughout the film, showing how the band's sound and look evolved.
