We find R... more »EAD at home sleeping. RADIOLA, BELLE, and TOC try to wake him up. The friends sing a song about sleep and counting sheep. Eventually the telephone rings and Mr. Booker, who runs the newsstand is on the line. Mr. Booker tells READ that he has just received a new supply of alphabet books an that "they're selling fast!". READ decides to go down to the newsstand to check them out. By the time he reaches the newsstand, only the "j" book is left. Next, READ flies off to the Reading Room and joins a group of children who have gathered to hear some books read: "Fleet Street" and "Six Sleepy Sheep". After the books are read, READ heads home. Along the way, he encounters signs "in the real world" which he is able to read. The program concludes with READ back home thinking about his day and all he has learned. He goes to bed, a happy and better educated young dragon. Combining animation, puppetry, storytelling, songs and adventures, these programs captivate young viewers and encourage the love of reading. The Deep Sleep features the letter "J" and includes the theme of "sleep".
