Caution: May contain spoilers!

I wanted to like The Trail. The premise sounded interesting, but it ended up being a bit unrealistic. We're supposed to believe that Amelia survived winter on the Oregon trail without socks or outerwear? That she sustained herself on boiled leaves? That over the weeks she was wandering along the trail, her dress never got ratty and she didn't lose any weight? Also, towards the end of the film, she falls into a fast moving creek. She loses her shoes, but somehow manages to go on trekking through the deep snow sopping wet and barefoot.

The production values were a little low. At one point, you can see a crew member behind the wagon and in another scene you can see a boom microphone.

I did like Shannon Brown's character Boy. It was really interesting the way Amelia found and cared for a Native American child during her ordeal, but the ending sort of canceled that out.
