I am not a network TV watcher.. normally I "watch" Discovery Channel, History Channel, Food Chanel etc when doing other things. 

I recently discovered ABC online TV programs.  They have full episides online, to watch when you are in the mood, with limited interruptions.  I have been able to keep up with the current episodes of Grey's Anatomy and the spin off Private Practice without hav ing to wait for the DVDs or have to watch it on ABCs timetable.   

Negatives are the screen is smaller but it is worth the effort.

I am excited about this option since we don't have DVR
