Help Center - How to find DVDs to request

You can find a DVD to request at SwapaDVD many ways!

There are three main Search pathways:

To use the Quick Search, enter any keyword in the field and click

Click Search in the toolbar. Tabs include DVD Search, Browse by Genre, and Member DVD Search. Links include Advanced Search and DVDs Posted Today.

Mouse over Search in the toolbar and choose from the menu that drops down.

Search Tips:

You can choose to view All DVDs, Only UnPosted, Only Posted, and Only Club Wish Listed, on any search result.
There is a link to the Advanced Search on each search result to narrow that search.
If a search result doesn't find the DVD you want, click "Don't see the DVD you are looking for?" on the upper right.
Click any actor's name on a DVD Details page to see a list of that actor's works.

Search the SwapaDVD database for a specific title
Search the SwapaDVD database for a specific actor
See a list of all the DVDs an actor has starred in (and which ones are currently available/unavailable at SwapaDVD)
Browse the SwapaDVD database by genre

Browse DVD Towers of members who live near you!
Browse Recently Posted DVDs
Browse Member Reviews

Looking for a specific DVD? (do you know the title?)

Do a Quick Search:
- Enter a title into the Search field in the toolbar at the top of the site.
- Click

Looking for an actor?

Do a Quick Search:
- Enter an actor's name into the Search field in the toolbar at the top of the site.
- Click

Want to see ALL of an actor's DVDs in one list?

Do a Quick Search:
- type the actor's name into the Search field in the toolbar at the top of the site
- Click
- When your search results come up
  - click the actor's name under any DVD on the search result page
  - you will see a list of ALL of that actor's DVDs, with available DVDs in green, and currently unavailable DVDs in red!
  - You can also get to the list by clicking the actor's name on the DVD Details page for any DVD by that actor.

Want to Browse DVDs in a Specific Genre?

There is a Browse by Genre tab in the Search area:
- Click Search in the toolbar at the top of the site

You can narrow your search results by choosing further sub-genres at the top of the page
- use the boxes that appear to the right of your Genre/Subgenre choices to select further sub-subgenres from the dropdown menus
You can also "jump" to any other genre/subgenre from the top of any Genre search result

Want to browse members' DVD Towers?

Click Search in the toolbar at the top of the site
- Click the Member DVD Search tab
  - Enter SwapaDVD Nickname OR City and State OR SwapaDVD User Email into the appropriate field
  - Click
  - Click the link to "Posted DVDs" next to any member's name in the search result to bring up his or her DVD Tower (links to member Wish Lists are shown too)

Once on a member's Tower, you can:

Browse by genre:
- Click at the top of the page
- Choose a genre to see only items in a specific genre on that Tower
Do a keyword search:
- Click
- enter actor, title, etc. into the Keyword search field that pops up

Want to see DVDs that have been recently posted? (DVDs Posted Today):

place your cursor over Search in the toolbar and click DVDs Posted Today in the menu that drops down

Want to Browse Member DVD Reviews?

Place your cursor over Search in the toolbar
Click Member DVD Reviews in the menu that drops down
The most recently-written reviews will be at the top
You can rate member DVD reviews using the thumbsup/thumbsdown on each review.
- thumbs up = you found the review helpful in deciding whether or not to request that DVD
