This is the story of an orphan named Rose, who is sent to a new home after her orphanage is closed. This new home is cold and cruel and she is not accepted by the headmaster (Edward Herrmann). The children look forward to their Christmas orange, but this year, poor Rose doesn't get one.

It's a story of suffering and friendship. A great lesson for everyone in the family.
