Movie Reviews

Great spinning dvd
B. Pollinger | georgia | 03/11/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I had been looking for a good training dvd. I used to take spinning classes but now have my own stationary bike. This dvd is excellent for beginners as well as advanced riders. Gets your heart rate up and you definitely sweat. I recommend this tool for anybody who wants to get in shape."
Hard workout and good calorie burner

"I'm actually surprised that this got so many negative reviews. I did it for the first time today, and really enjoyed it. Brooke's personality isn't as fun as Mindy Mylrea's, but this workout was definitely not as boring to me as Rob Sherman's Cycle Challenge.

If you decide to do the whole workout, it comes in at about 58 minutes, which includes a few minutes of warm-up riding and a light stretch afterwards. During the workout, she leads you through three segments that really get your heart rate up: a set of speed intervals (the Pace Ride portion), a set of hill climbs, and a series of rolling hills (which concludes with a sprint home). What is nice about this kind of interval training is that your body burns more fat both during and after the workout. There is also a nice blend of seated and standing riding, so that your bum doesn't get too sore from sitting too much.

The stretch at the end seemed a bit rushed, and there is no upper body stretching or even breaks for the upper body during the actual workout. Despite that, she still gives wonderful cues and form pointers during the workout so you are always focusing on your form.

The instructor also uses cadence and heart rate to help you determine where you should be in your workout. Since my spin bike doesn't have a cadence monitor on it, I was worried that it would be hard to follow along with her, but it wasn't at all. I do recommend using this with a heart rate monitor if you have one, though, since that really helped me ensure that I was working at the proper level.

This is also a nice calorie burner. I am 37, female, 5'4", and about 115 pounds, and, according to my heart rate monitor, I burned exactly 460 calories.

"It is a good spin workout, however there is very little scenic riding. small screen appears a few times. expected more terrain riding and less studio riding."

"Too boring. Not much variety. Not like the spinning classes you take at the Y or local clubs."
