Movie Reviews

Terrible Waste of Time
M. Peoples | Clinton, SC | 03/10/2008
(1 out of 5 stars)

"This DVD is simply terrible. I have bought other DVD's with Curt Mitchell in the past - his best being "In the Style of the Beatles" way back in 1998, when it was only on VHS. Pretty good... it came with a list of licks in order, some tab and Curt played well. Forget it here! Curt is totally spaced out. Stopping the tape while in production and coming back to say things like "Well I've relistened to the music and actually I think it's played like this....". But with Curt's erratic behavior he has you thinking he stopped the tapes for "another" reason.

What else is terrible? Well the worst part is that there is NO PLAY LIST-NO MENU- NO SONG SELECTION. You have NO IDEA WHAT he's playing or the order it's being played unless you're a dedicated Tom Petty fan. If you're looking for a specific song... forget it. You'll have to listen through the whole disc to find whatever it is you're looking for. Again, it's not listed on the box, in the box, or on the disc- so good luck. Plus - the DVD says that there are "Backing Tracks" to play to on the disc. I couldn't find any and was upset about not having a play list, so I called the Production Offices. They said that the Backing Tracks are the music playing while you think your DVD player is LOADING the BACKING TRACK SELECTION. And it's not even Tom Petty Music. Frankly, the whole presentation and Production STINKS. And that's putting it mildly. I had some high hopes for this DVD after seeing Curt on the Beatles edition. Please. Save your money, and simply go and buy a good Tom Petty Tab book with CD. This one is a total waste of time."
