Movie Reviews

Not even semi-decent effects can save this movie from turnin
Martin J. Thornal | Moncks Corner | 10/13/2009
(1 out of 5 stars)

"Seriously, the dubbing in this movie is horrible. It sounds extremely painful to listen to it in the English language. It's worst than many Godzilla English dubs. 4Kids level dubing overall. And the acting in the film is pitiful as well. The only real highlight of this film is that some of the effects aren't too terrible actually, but end up ranging from crap to semi-decent. Also, did I mention that the film is mostly Lifetime Original quality drama and the sharks are barely anywhere in sight. This is a low budget direct-to-video shark film. One would think the creators would try to amp up on the shark scenes in order to bury the awful performances of the actors better. At least if they had done that, I might have given this a two, but alas they didn't. A word of advice, if your film is a low-budget horror movie, for the most part, very few viewers actually care about the humans, they care about the darn monster in the film more.

The DVD is so bare bones I'm surprised the studio even bothered releasing the DVD. The quality of the video transfer is Youtube quality. They include the original German language version as well, but don't even bother to add subtitles. Listening to the German dub was better than having to listen to the English version.

What else is good about it. Eh, it's better than Jaws the Revenge but worse than Jaws 3."
