Help Center - Auto-request vs. 48 Hour Offer (on the Wish List)

Auto-request:

The Auto-request feature on the Wish List will request a Wish List DVD automatically for you if you have enough credits and money in your account, skipping the email offer/confirmation step.  Auto-request will work even if an account is on Vacation Hold.  If you do not have credits and money in your account when an Auto-requested DVD becomes available, you will simply be skipped over, and will retain your place in the Wish List line for the DVD.

Why use auto-request?

• If you know you will not be able to respond to a Wish List offer email within 48 hours (or if you are going away for less than 21 days and putting your account on Vacation Hold), you will be sure not to miss a Wish List DVD.

How to Set a Wish List item to Auto-Request:

• Go to your Wish List

• Select Auto Request from the drop down menu on the right of the item.

Please note:

• if you put an AVAILABLE item on your Wish List set to auto-request, that is the same as requesting it.
  • If you don't want that item right away, you should set that wish to be on Hold when you add it.

• If you put an AVAILABLE item on your Wish List set to auto-request and you don't have enough credits, that will mean that your account will request the item automatically when you get enough credits. If you don't want that to happen, you should set that wish to be on Hold on your Wish List.

How to Set a Wish List item to Auto-Requ

48 Hour Offer:

If you do not want a DVD automatically sent to your address then you may choose the "48 Hour Offer" option. Using this option, you will receive an email letting you know when a DVD on your Wish List is available. To respond to the email offer, log into SwapaDVD and click on the offer to accept or decline it. If your are not able to respond within 48 hours the DVD will be placed on "Hold" and Auto-request on your Wish List.

The 48 Hour Offer feature is useful if you want to send the DVD to an alternate address because you will have the option of entering another address when you accept the offer.  This feature is also useful if you need time to purchase money or credits, or transfer credits from your PBS or SwapaCD account into your SwapaDVD account. 

To enable the "48-Hour Offer" feature for an item on your Wish List:

• Go to your Wish List

• Choose 48 Hour Offer on the right of the item

Your Default Options:

You are welcome to change your default Wish List options to 48 Hour Offer or Auto-request, according to your preference. To do this:

• Go to your Wish List
• Click in the top right of your Wish List
• Select either 48 Hour Offer or  Auto Request  
• Click to save your selections. After doing this, all DVDs will be added to your Wish List with these options, unless you specify otherwise.
• You can also change your default rank from the "Options" button. Note that if you choose "Other" as the rank for your default, you will need to enter the position for each DVD you place on your Wish List.
• If you are sure you always want to use your default options, you can select "Skip prompt when adding to Wish List and use defaults"
• Select the "Hold" checkbox if you would like to add DVDs to your Wish List on Hold.

Remember that hovering your mouse over a anywhere on your Wish List (or any page of the site) will generate a brief explanation of the feature.
