How to Manage Your Wish List:

  • Adding a DVD to your Wish List:
    • Click on any listing for a DVD in the database and choose whether or not to put the item on Hold.
      • You can customize these options in advance if you generally want the same options each time, by using the Options button on your Wish List (see below)
    • read about how to find DVDs in the SwapaDVD database here.
    • There is no limit to the number of items you can add to your Wish List.
  • Deleting an item from your Wish List:
    • Click next to any item you want to delete.
  • Rank:

You "rank" your Wish List by which DVDs you desire to receive the most. The Rank of "1" is the DVD you want the most. Ranks can be adjusted by clicking and dragging the bar on the left hand side of each Wish, clicking the  or  or by entering a new rank into the box and clicking the "Move" button. The order you rank your DVDs is not necessarily the order you will receive them, but your position in line for a DVD will improve faster if you rank the DVD higher. If you rank a DVD too low then you may be passed by some members who rank the DVD higher.

    Example Scenario:
I add a DVD to my list with a rank of 10. In 1 month you add the same DVD to your list but rank it number 1. It would then take approximately 1 more month for you to pass me in line for the DVD. If you would have ranked the DVD 8th instead of 1st then it would take approximately 10 more months to pass me in line.

This example shows that the most important factor is how long you leave a DVD on your Wish List but ranking them higher will help you get those you want most. Members with a long Wish List will see DVDs ranked lower moving much slower than those near the top.
  • Position:

Each DVD on your Wish List will show two position numbers. The first is your position in the line of members wanting that particular DVD. The second is the position SwapaDVD estimates you will reach in 2 weeks. The number is only an estimate but takes into account how often the DVD is posted and your current rank for the DVD. Often you can improve your estimated position by giving the DVD a higher rank.
  • Options:
    • this button at the top of the Wish List allows you to customize the default options that will be used to add DVDs to your Wish List in the future.
  • Sorting your Wish List:
    • Click  at the top of the page.
      • Options are: rank, position in Wish List queue, title, and date and the sort can be ascending or descending.
  • Searching your Wish List:
    • Click at the top of the page, and enter a keyword then click
  • Auto-request:
    • Auto-request means that the DVD will be requested by your account automatically if you have enough credits
    • The default when you add a DVD to your Wish List is to Auto-Request it, but you can change your defaults using the button on the top right of the Wish List.
    • To change your settings for a Wish, select either Auto-request or 48 Hour Offer from the drop-down list on the right of the Wish.
  • Hold:
    • Placing a Wish List item on "Hold" by checking the hold check box means that you temporarily do not want the DVD. For example if you want to watch a DVD by a certain actor before you receive any other DVDs by the actor, then you can put the other DVDs by the actor on Hold. If you place a DVD on hold, you will be slowly passed in line for the DVD but you will not completely lose your position.
