This incredible true story took place in 2010 in Chile when 33 miners were trapped in a catastrophic mine collapse for 69 days. Antonio Banderas was at his finest, playing the leader of the group keeping his head in the face of disaster and encouraging the others to maintain hope. Lou Diamond Phillips plays a second-in-command sort of character who carries guilt for not being tougher on the mine owners to maintain the mine and its safety. The movie does a terrific job of developing the characters of the miners, their family members, and the government representatives who are all praying for a positive outcome.
