Movie Reviews

Unique but not special...

"Last year a group of us ended up in a strip club on Burbon Street in New Orleans. I admit I was uncomfortable but at the same time I was impressed by the relaxed sensual movements of the dancers. When I saw a DVD was available on exotic dancing I couldn't resist buying it to see if I too could learn the moves.
"The Art of Exotic Dancing" is a great idea! To teach women how to get in touch with their sensuality through exotic dancing. That is what this DVD sets out to do. And it succeeds to some extant but could be better.
In the DVD a 40 something grandmother/exotic dancer shows a group of women how to move sensually. The students then try the move, translating it with their body. Everyone will do it a little differently.
The moves are easy to learn. There are a just a few of them including hip rolls and walking. Though the movements are simple you realize how just a little different motion in your ocean can make your body so much more appealing.
This is not an exercise workout. You will not feel the burn or get an aerobic workout. You will simply learn how to walk and move your body in a sexier fashion.
Personally I did not feel the movements went into enough depth. More movements would have been better. Despite that the few movements taught were interesting.
The biggest drawback to the DVD in my opinion was the clothing worn. The leader who has a very shapely body, wears a white grandma bra when she demonstrates some of the moves and an unflattering hankerchief top for other moves. For one scene she wears an ugly oversized man's shirt. Now come on..seduction can include what you wear. A crisp white mans shirt, a sexy top does not have to be sleezy to inspire. I must say that the one gal in Burbon Street "Rain" who got me thinking about how I moved wore a black, mesh top with minute sized flowers on it. Paired with 10 inch heels of course. She was very cute and not sleezy at all.
Bottomline the video gets a few good points for teaching sensuous moves but I have to deduct several stars because just some simple things, more moves and better clothing would have made it so much better."
LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT!!

"This DVD was a Godsend! I am glad I didn't listen to some of the other reviews...maybe they can comfortably dance like this but it is hard for someone like me!
I am a bit overweight and have never thought of myself as very sexy. My husband loves me, of course, and I thought this might be a "treat" for him. It became more of MY treat!!
I learned the moves and I started to believe they actually looked good!!! But what really happened is that I started to FEEL good about myself...to feel sexy and not be so hard on myself. It has had a dramatic affect on my life!
I have lost 35 pounds...and my husband thinks I am a Goddess!!! (Which I now realize, I am!!)
If anyone is thinking about getting this product...do it! It is wonderful!! And it's nice to see the women in the video are just "normal" and not perfect! How refeshing!!!
Thank you for making this DVD for women like me, who needed something supportive and not intimidating!"

"I did not like the dance moves on this dvd at all! The dance moves were very boring. It basicly teaches you how to walk sexy and how to have a sexy attitude. It didn't really teach any dancing. It only teaches you a few moves that just about anybody can do. If you don't have a clue on how to act sexy, this dvd is for you. But, if you are wanting to learn some sexy dance moves, this might not be the dvd for you. The dance instucter does give clear and easy to understand advice and instructions. The picture quality is good too."
Ok, not enough content & WAY too much talking from students

"It starts with a 6 min intro with excessive camera effects & learning the background about the students. All during the practive & learning the students while talk about all their fears & worries.. a little is good, but they allow soo much, might make some woman have NEW worries.
Walking: step, drag, step... for 8 min.
Hip Rolls: regular ones for 6 min. Revolving/turning hip rolls for 7 min. Hip rolls while squatting 5 min. Hip rolls while kneeling for 6 min.
Floorwork 13 min, : touch yourself all over for 2 min, recline back & arch for 1 min, leg circles in the air, slide them back & forth like a cricket, turn on side, arch again, trace again, turn over on stomach with spread legs, rock back & forth, spread legs, turn on side, touch self, leg in the air, crawling & talking tips, practice & students talking more.
Striptease 3 min: students in better outfits doing the striptease w/o talking in between
Dress Up: students in their fav. outfits stripping while narrating over how they feel

There are some good moves, but I found Susan Bremer (Art of Sensual Dance) to be more sensual & less stiff while teaching. In this DVD, the pace was too slow & doens't teach very much. The DVD was filled with more about following the women students, talking all through, their thoughts, their pasts & opinions & watching their transformation.
The teaching itself was good but only the basics, though slow, the music was a bit uninspiriing as well. This DVD is only for people who have no clue how to strip or be sexy at all.

There's a trailer on their site & the overlaid music is a bit in the way. Also you'll see a lot of info about what the students think more then actual teaching... that's how the DVDs are. It's at the artofexoticdancing

Try something more sensual like "Art of Sensual Dance" by Susan Breemer, or more fun & more aerobics like Jeff Costa's Cardio Striptease (Either of his 2 disks), Carmen Electra's aerobic striptease (Disk 1 is best) , Exotic Dance for You, or Felinity."
