Movie Reviews

Not What You Think
T. Seekins | Monona, WI | 01/27/2007
(3 out of 5 stars)

"The title for this DVD is a bit mis-leading. It's more of a collection of Sci-Fi and weird stories. Only one is even remotely scary.

You also have to like low budget films, which means the cinematography isn't always the best.

Consists of eight shorts. The first is "Vision". This short suffers from very bad acting and poor sound quality. However, it is a good story. (6/10).

The second short, "Horla" tries to be surreal, but is just stupid. (3/10).

Next is "Recharge" which has a "Twlight Zone" feel. A good story, but a bit predictable. (5/10)

"Cell U Lar" is the worst of the lot. The story is not original or well done and has no point of any relevance. (2/10)

"Last Stop Station" is a short that has some potential that it didn't quite live up to, but it does have some funny moments. (4/10).

"The Suffering Static" is the only one that is the least bit scary. It's well done. (7/10).

The best of the lot is "Gridlock". Again, not scary but very funny, in a skewed sort of way.

"Convulsion" is an extra, that won in 2003. Not an original story and way too predictable. (4/10)

Overall a fair collection with some clunkers and some gems, but not for everyone."
