Movie Reviews

I Love Shooting Stars
Nicole's Mom | Mississipp, USA | 05/14/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Between the Lions is a great way to help your new reader with sounds and blending. I haven't seen an episode that I didn't enjoy watching with my 7 year old. Each episode repeats the sounds it is reviewing many times. This DVD actually has three different episodes - Shooting Stars, There's a Fly in My Soup, and Pandora's Box. All three were great. My 7 year is always trying to sing along when the singing group sings a different letter sound. I also like the stories they read on the show. Each word that is read from the story is highlighted to encourage word recognition. My favorite episode on this DVD is There's a Fly in My Soup. Everyone is trying to get Click the Mouse to laugh by telling jokes. Some of the jokes are actually very funny! I love to hear my son laughing or trying to figure out an answer or a sound from the back seat of the car when we're traveling. I also use these videos to help me review letter sounds when we're done. Sometimes we'll focus on one sound an entire weekend. I use the show to introduce and then reinforce what we are trying to learn. This show is featured on PBS and I normally check out episodes there and then decide which to purchase. I have an 8 month old and I can't wait until we can watch these together."
