The idea is clever but the movie can't seem to pull its comic weight: Steve Martin plays a mob informer who is placed in the witness-protection program and doesn't fit into the suburban California life the Feds have picked... more » out for him. Rick Moranis is the FBI agent assigned to protect him. Martin mugs his way through the role of an Italian wise guy from the New York streets, but his performance is never more than an impersonation. The script leaves a lot to be desired, as well. Director Herbert Ross (The Turning Point) brings some gloss to the production, but he can't seem to do much else with the material. --Tom Keogh« less

I thought this movie was really funny. I understand it was an old one but I had never seen it before. Karen

This is a really funny and entertaining movie. Lots of funny one-liners that you don't catch the first time. We quote this movie all the time. Its funny from start to finish. I'm not into comedies that much but this one is in my top 20.

I thought this was a very funny and touching movie. This is Well Worth the credit it will cost.
Steve Martin plays an mobster going into the witness protection program with an over developed sense of ego.
Rick Moranis plays the F.B.I. agent assigned to protect him before he has to testify at a big trial. He is also very square, unhip and uncool and thus his wife left him and he has no prospects in hooking up with a gal.
The two help each other and cavort in a plethora of hijinks. It really is a fun movie !

Steve Martin.
How could it not be good? While this wasn't the funniest movie I've ever seen, it had plenty of enjoyable moments.
I think this was one of Steve Martin's greatest characters- his accent, attitude, and even the way he moved.
