GONE TO TEXAS — Sam Elliott is Texas Revolutionary Sam Houston in this sweeping epic of warring nations, patriotic pride, and the adventure and danger of the untamed West. After resigning as Tennessee Governor amid scandal ... more »and disgrace, Houston lived among the Cherokee before learning that war was inevitable for Texas to become an independent state. An American hero of the West, Sam Houston led the fight for Texas' independence--this is the story of a courageous man and, in the name of freedom, the battle he waged for a million acres of land.

Gone To Texas is a most interesting film about the history surrounding the Alamo and Sam Houston (Sam Elliott). Much has been written about this historic part of our country and this movie seems to be very authentic without glossing over the true characters of some of these individuals. Indians (Native Americans) did not understand paper money.... they wanted GOLD! Sam Elliott plays Sam Houston warts and all and still makes us proud he was there and sacrificed so much!
Blue River features Jerry O’Connell (Sliders, Stand By Me) and Neal McDonough (Justified, Desperate Housewives) are two brothers with widely different outlooks on life and very different pasts who's lives went in opposite directions due to tragedy. Sam Elliott co-stars but it is the younger men who bring about a heartfelt and intriguing story.

My copy has Gone to Texas and Blue River on it. Gone to Texas is a really good piece about the story of Sam Houston and how he greatly figured in the liberation of Texas from Mexico.
