This started out slow and was a dated film. Once the movie got going, it was pretty entertaining. Not a 4/5 but definitely a solid 3/5. A must see for Rutger Hauer fans!

NOT SO DRY BONES
Michael Butts | Martinsburg, WV USA | 07/04/2006

"This 1998 made for Cable movie is suprisingly effective, comparable to films like SEVEN, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, THE BONE COLLECTOR...not quite as sharp but entertaining nonetheless.
Rutger Hauer plays William Palmer, a former medical examiner who has written a best selling novel about his involvement with the Bone Daddy, a despicable serial killer who was never caught. In his novel, however, Bone Daddy is captured, and this really ticks off the real criminal who goes on a rampage of vengeance. Barbara Williams as the troubled detective; R.H. Thomson as Hauer's associate and Joseph Kell as the son who is following in his father's footsteps lend capable support.
Intriguing and worth a view."

"Tightly written plot, spine tingling...great if you love mysteries with a touch of the slasher film!!"

"THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING SERIAL KILLER HORROR MOVIE WITH MANY GREAT TWISTS TO IT. THE ACTING IS AMAZING AND THE PLOT IS KILLER. THE BLOOD AND GORE WHAT THERE IS OF IT WORKS IN MANY WAYS AND IS EYE CATCHING.

THE PLOT IS YOUR BASIC EX. PATHOLOGIST DOCTOR PALMER PLAYED BY THE UNDERRATED RUTGER HAUER WHO HAS WROTE A BOOK ON THE CASE HE COULD NOT SOLVE WHICH WAS TITLED BONE DADDY BECAUSE THE SERIAL KILLER TAKES THE BONES OUT OF PEOPLE. THIS IS A TWISTED TALE OF MAD CRAZY PERSON WITH A TASTE FOR DEATH. THE BOOK THAT IS WRITTEN MAKES THE KILLER GET CAUGHT AND THIS MAKES THE BADDIE ANGRY AND RESURFACE TO PLAY AROUND AGAIN.
INSERT SOME FAMILY DRAMA BETWEEN SON AND POP AND YOU HAVE A VERY WELL CRAFTED SCRIPT AND ACTED MOVIE. THE SUSPENSE AND MYSTERY MIX WELL TOGETHER TO BRING FORTH A KILLER SERIAL KILLER MOVIE. THE IMAGES DISPLAYED ALWAYS MAKES ME TWITCH WATCHING THE KILLER CUT THE BONES FROM PEOPLE AS THEY ARE STILL ALIVE, TALK ABOUT TRUE PAIN.

THIS IS A FILM THAT STANDS OUT AND IS WORTH A WATCH. IT'S BUILT AROUND STORY AND ACTING GIVING THE VIEWER TIME TO UNDERSTAND THE CHARACTERS AND THE OVER ALL LIFESTYLE OF THE MADMAN SERIAL KILLER AND ALSO DOCTOR PALMER AND HIS SON. THE MOVIE IS PLAYED OUT LIKE A SILENCE OF THE LAMBS TYPE OF REALITY. IT IS A FILM THAT IS OFTEN OVER LOOKED AND SHOULD BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO VIEW BY FANS OF SERIAL KILLER HORROR.

THIS TWIST NOT ONLY A SERIAL KILLER REALITY TO IT BUT ALSO IN A SENSE PLACES THE HORROR WORLD OF A SLASHER TYPE FLICK. IN THE END WITH THE EXPLOSIVE SHOW DOWN IT KEEPS THE VIEWER IN CHECK AND THE EYES GLUED TO THE FINALLY SHOT OF GOOD VS. EVIL. [...]
