"Here is a quick run down.
-Shane Douglas wrestles Taz's cousin Chris Chetti for the T.V. title
-Tracey Smothers and Little Guido vs. The Pitbulls
-The Dudley Boyz vs. Balls Mahoney and The Sandman
-ECW champion Terry Funk vs. Chris Candido
-Loser Leave Town match:Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven
-Sabu vs. Taz 2
-Taz vs. Shane Douglas
-Tag Title Match: Dudley's vs. The Eliminators.
Buy the video or DVD. ECW is without a question the best wrestling promotion of the 90's. Now we are just left with waterdown and reused storylines and the worst wrestling company ever, that only wishes they could be ECW, XPW. XPW just takes ECW talent and put on crappy shows."
Great Event...And It Wasn't Even A PPV
D.P. | California | 05/28/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)
"This was a major ECW event that was held back in May of '97 to set up for their next PPV (ala WCW's Clash Of The Champions or WWF's Saturday Night's Main Event) and Rick Rude joined Joey Styles on commentary for the main event matches.
Television Champion Shane Douglas vs. Chris Chetti - The best part of this match was the prematch promo when Shane Douglas completely buried the Philadelphia Flyers for being "swept" in the Stanley Cup finals. Besides that, it was an average wrestling match that went around 7 minutes but Chetti was impressive for being a rookie at this time.
The Pitbulls vs. F.B.I. - This was nothing more than a comedic tag team match as most of the F.B.I.'s matches were as Guido & Smothers got in their comedic spots before the Pitbulls beat them with their power moves.
Dudley Boyz vs. Sandman & Balls Mahoney - This was an enjoyable just a brawl from bell to bell.
ECW Champion Terry Funk vs. Chris Candido - Before the match, there was an emotional speech by Stevie Richards who had a neck injury & had to forfit the title shot. The match for the most part was dominated by Candido before Terry Funk pulled out the victory out of nowhere. A match that wasn't anything special but watchable.
Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven - Their final encounter & this match showcases what was great about the ECW enviroment...anywhere else you go in wrestling at this time, if you knew that a wrestler was leaving the company after a match, you know they were going to lose & put the other guy over but you weren't sure here still just based on the fact that Tommy never beat Raven for over 2 years. The had fighting through the crowd & all around the arena & Raven using all of his tactics & members of his nest to stop Dreamer who just wouldn't be denied this time. ECW classic here but it got overshadowed by what happened after the match involved the returning "Mr. Monday Night", Jerry "The King" Lawler and the rest of the ECW locker room. (Also available on "Rise & Fall Of ECW")
Taz vs. Sabu - This was the rematch from Barely Legal but this match was less than 10 minutes & was just a backdrop to the storyline that was being setup for the next match but it was a good match for the short time it had.
Television Champion Shane Douglas vs. Taz - After Douglas had been taunting Taz for the past couple of mins., they fought in a 3 min. challenge for the TV belt which Taz choked out Douglas to win the TV belt.
Tag Team Champions Eliminators vs. Dudley Boyz - Saturn had a torn ACL & was scheduled for surgery so Kronis fought this match alone & was beat up by the Dudleys a majority of the match with Saturn occassionally coming in to help him out but the ending to this match is something you would never expect concidering the circumstances.
This event had more plot twist and unexpected appearances that would crap on a majority of the WWE/WCW PPV's during that time period. If your a fan of a show that's worth your $$$ from top to bottom, this is highly recommended."
A memorable wrestling card
Eric Hyde | DeKalb, IL United States | 11/07/2002

"This card was memorable for a few reasons. First off, it has the "Final Battle" between Tommy Dreamer and Raven, who have been feuding for a lifetime. A very good match, which also has Jerry Lawler, Rob Van Dam, and Sabu appear following it, starting the infamous ECW-WWF interpromotional war. They destroy the entire locker room, until Taz clears the ring. That brings us to the next memorable match, Taz vs Shane Douglas for the TV Title. A great last minute match. Finally, the main event has The Eliminators defending the Tag Titles against The Dudleys. Good match, but its really memorable for Perry Saturn's elbow drop off the top rope. That's memorable because Saturn is in a leg brace, due to having a torn ACL. The rest of the card is good, but these are the main reasons to see it."

"i'll just give you the run down on the matches:shane douglas v. chris chetti - decent opener, few scientific moves, but nothing too specialpitbulls v. f.b.i. - decent tag match, not too much going on, pretty shortdudleys v. balls and sandman - this was a brawl for the most part, pretty good match, one funny spot with sandman jumping over with the cane hitting balls and devonterry funk v. chris candido - pretty good, repetative piledrivers and neckbreakers, not much for a world title match thoughtommy dreamer v. raven - this was a great brawl, probably my favorite match on the ppv, there was something like 7 ddts in this match, good stuff, and an all around great finish for a great feudrvd, sabu, and jerry lawler segment - this was hilarious, there were more cursing in this segment to the end than two osbournes show put together, rvd and sabu just kicked everyone's butt while lawler is on the mic the whole time, awesome stuff!!!!!!sabu v. taz - rematch from barely legal ppv, nowhere as good, but still one of the best matches on this ppv, the ending is ala piper and bret harttaz v. shane douglas - stipulation match, if shane wins, taz can't wrestle for 60 days, if taz makes him submit in 3 min., taz gets the tv title, fairly good story put together in this matcheliminators v. dudleys - tag titles, saturn has a torn ACL, not much of a match, but still interesting and a pretty good finishall in all, it's a good ppv worth the money."
