Movie Reviews

So disappointed.

"First of all, I love these guys and respect their work. My beef is with the audio quality of this recording. It is very poor compared to the balance of video concerts being released on DVD. The audio quality is flat and consequently was not very much fun to experience. Sorry."
Powerful in areas - flawed in areas - overall a good value

"This video was disappointing in ways yet delightful in others. For the price - it's a value. I'll cover both the Delights and the Faults: The faults: Not the performers fault but whoever made this into a DVD did a sloppy job in some respects. There are 2 or 3 small spots that garble the sound for a second (no biggy really). This DVD is mostly live footage of a particular Eurythmics concert with some familiar animation mingled in between tracks. The animation video quality is not great or bad. But less than par to the live concert footage which was, in my estimate, outstanding. Yes, I agree with one other reviewer that it really is a no-brainer that they rolled the film credits over the song Sweet Dreams. You get two versions of Sweet Dreams - the live concert version and the MTV-type acted out version. The MTV-type was the one with the film credits. Also, in the beginning is a non-musical prologue with some guy - a producer/director - non-band member and I thought that was boring at best - skip it and go to the music. Was it his fault for the minor blurbs? Hmmmm. Anyway - the DVD still has its merits. The Delightful: The video quality on the live concert footage is sharp and in some regards - awesome with the lighting and all. This DVD is a mix of the MTV-sort of video's and a live Eurythmics concert. The audio through out 97% is, in my estimate, better than anything I've heard. Annie Lennox's voice really cuts through everything in her lusty-powerful way. The live concert was filmed when she was sporting close-cropped red hair. Also, you get 14 songs with this DVD - all with great audio. Over-all: If you like Annie Lennox, Dave Stewart and/or the Eurythmics - yes - get this DVD. It certainly is a value and you will enjoy it. The minor - brief flaws are tolerable. My favorite track is Jennifer - comes through in ultra-rich sound and colorful laser lit video."
Sweet dreams - The bad dream.

"The concept of this compilation was interesting in the 80' but the "scenettes" with the puppies look very old fashioned now. In fact it's just a live with 3 video clips in it. Furthermore, the sound on this DVD is very poor (even if it is in PCM format). The kind of DVD released without any special work on it, just to make money."
SWEET SENSATIONS

"This fascinating video features in-concert performances, conceptual video clips and animation blended together in a wonderful album with the hits Love Is A Stranger, Sweet Dreams, I've Got Angel and Who's That Girl. Their obscure first album In The Garden provides Never Gonna Cry Again and Take Me To Your Heart. Highlights found nowhere else in their recorded output include a Live performance of Lou Reed's Satellite Of Love and a catchy French song Tout Les Garcons Et Les Filles. The Love Is A Stranger video clip is particularly enchanting, with Anne removing a series of wigs to reveal radically different characters, culminating in an eerie bathroom suicide scene. An essential document from Eurythmics' prime, showcasing the full spectrum of their talent and flair."
